Sandals | Simple Micellar Water Makeup Wipes | White Romper | Swimsuit | Head Wrap | Patterned Romper | Tarte Sunscreen
Saturday night I’m heading to St. John, USVI with Geoff, my brother, and his girlfriend, Breen (my parents and other brother are already there). I really tried to do the majority of packing ahead of time since I’m in DC this week for work, but of course I have a bunch of mental lists going but not much packing done! I’m the type of person who hates scrambling and doing a bunch of errands at the last minute- but of course I’m sure I will still be doing this! One thing I love most about going to St. John is that it doesn’t have that touristy, overcrowded feel that so many other vacation spots tend to have. When you’re there, every moment is pure relaxation and bliss. The locals and many other people use the term “island time” which basically means that you have no schedule, things go slow, and to not worry about the time! It’s always great practice for me because I feel like living in a city has turned me into a little bit of an impatient person (oops) who tries to get things done as quickly as possible. Do any of you guys who also live in cities ever feel like this? It’s nice to get reminders to slow down whenever we can. In my opinion, another great thing about St. John is that it’s very casual. There isn’t much of a going-out night-life scene, so there really is no need to pack stilettos or your going out dresses (you know the ones I mean). It will be a true vacation for me where I don’t have to worry about dressing to impress and I can just go with the flow! Here’s some of the things I’m packing if you guys are curious 🙂
I found these Rebecca Minkoff sandals at the Bloomingdale’s outlet and was so pumped because I got them for $35. They’re so versatile and I love the studs on top (also love these and these)! If you haven’t tried them yet, these Simple Micellar Makeup Removing Wipes are my absolute favorite makeup removing wipes because they’re so gentle. I have such sensitive skin, and then when you combine that with a sunburn (it’s probably going to happen), my skin can get so raw. These are like $7 and are at any drugstore (these are my second favorite). I love rompers for vacation and summer because you can throw them on over a bathing suit, and they have this light, airy, feel about them. All it takes is adding wedges to dress them up! I’m packing this romper that I’m obsessed with (it’s so comfy and the material is great because it looks good without a bra) and also this one which is selling out of sizes quickly. If you didn’t check out my recent post about my favorite swimsuits of the season, then let me tell you – American Eagle has some of the cutest bathing suits this season, and for cheap! I don’t think I’ve shopped there since high school, but I couldn’t pass up the fun styles this year. When I bought this one, they were doing a special for buy one separate, get another one for $5. Stay tuned, and hopefully they’ll run that special again! I’ll let you guys know if I see it. I bought another swimsuit from there that I’m obsessed with, but it sold out almost immediately. As soon as I notice it on the site again, I’ll let you guys know because you’ll love it! I tried this sunscreen from Tarte as a sample from Sephora a while ago and was so impressed with it that I bought the full size version. It’s one of the only sunscreens I’ve ever tried that doesn’t have that heavy sunscreen smell, and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. My skin will break out over almost anything, so I try to avoid really heavy makeup and the thicker sunscreens. This one is so light, and even still looks great if you put makeup over it for everyday wear! I never thought I would reach it, but I’m finally at that regretful point that my mother warned me about as a child and teenager about frying my skin. Wearing sunscreen doesn’t mean you stay as white as a ghost- just choose a lower SPF and don’t choose something like 70! I would love to know your absolute must have item that you always bring for a vacation, whether it’s a beauty product or an outfit item you never miss! Let me know in the comments 🙂 As always, thanks so much for reading! Make sure to follow me on Instagram if you aren’t already for updates from my vacation.
