This past weekend was in my eyes, everything summer should be. Geoff and I went to my hometown of Owls Head, Maine (which is in the Midcoast area of Maine) for the weekend. While I love living in Boston now, there’s honestly nothing that compares to a Maine summer. As a kid, I hated being from a small town, but now, as an adult, I cherish my time at home and try to go whenever I can.
Since I didn’t get to make it to Maine even once last summer because of a crazy work schedule, I’ve definitely made up for it this summer and was able to go home a few times. This was the first time Geoff had been able to come with me this summer, so we took full advantage. We went kayaking on the ocean, had a great dinner at Primo, met up with a few of my friends, listened to live music, drank wine next to my parents’ fire pit, and I ate lobster for pretty much every meal. AKA all of my favorite things!!! We were supposed to go home to Boston Sunday night but were having such a good time that we decided to stay another night and came back really early this morning.
Tank Top; old from Old Navy, similar here (only $9!) // Shorts (currently 10% off) // Sunglasses (on sale for $10!!!) // Bag; old from J. Crew Factory, similar here + here //
I bought these floral shorts (that are currently 10% off + true to size) for a collaboration I did with Jack Wills and Newbury Collection (you can view the post here), and I wear them constantly. I love wearing jean shorts, but let’s be real, they just aren’t super breathable. I love these ones because while they’re loose, they also look polished, summery, and can be dressed up or down. I’ve worn them with heels to dress them up for dinner, and also with a t-shirt for doing errands around town. If you love the idea of a matching set, there’s also a matching tank top, and also a dress that’s in this same print.
We took these pictures right outside Rhumb Line in Camden where we had a late lunch, and I’m now obsessed with this spot. I’ve been dying to go for a while now, but it just hasn’t happened. Rhumb Line is across the waterfront from most of the other restaurants in Camden which is just one reason (of so many) why it’s awesome. It’s a little bit tucked away from the crowds of tourists meaning you definitely would have to know it’s there to stumble upon it. The outdoor bar and seating is right on the wharf overlooking Camden harbor and honestly just has the best vibe of any place I’ve been in a long time. Every little detail, down to the old-style lobster trap high top tables, to the menus, to the chairs with a tree cut-out was perfectly thought out. The restaurant had a good mix of locals and tourists drinking and dining while enjoying the sunny day. Do yourself a favor and get the lobster roll and the fish tacos. So delicious!
I hope you guys had a great weekend and that your week is off to a great start. In true Mackenzie fashion, I’m already super excited for next weekend because I’m going to Kenny Chesney on Saturday. Is anyone else going?! Let me know in the comments. 🙂
