NAVY + WHITE OUTFIT
After a 75 degree day in Boston yesterday, it’s going to be difficult to get used to still having chilly days mixed in (praying they’re behind us). It’s amazing what a sunny, warm day can do to your mood, the soul, and even just your entire outlook. Although the winters can be brutal, one thing I love about being from New England is that we never take a nice day for granted. After four months of freezing weather, we fully appreciate and take advantage of every nice one. Yesterday after work, I took the longer way home with the windows down, sunglasses on, and the breeze blowing in my hair through the window. I love having little moments like that to completely remind you that it’s the little things in life. I went for a run and it was amazing to see how many people were out and about; whether they were enjoying a jog, sitting on park benches, sunning themselves in the park, or walking their dogs (so many pups out)! I truly feel like the city comes alive again in the spring!
This navy and white outfit I wore has somewhat of a nautical vibe and has pieces that are timeless. While I do enjoy a deal from Forever 21, the items in this outfit are worth spending a little bit more on since they’re classic basics that you’ll wear time and time again. This navy blazer is one of my absolute favorite pieces I own. The cuffs are a pale blue pinstripe when folded over, and the gold buttons add gorgeous detail. I purchased it at the J. Crew Factory store in Freeport, Maine in August. If you haven’t been there you need to go! It can often be hit or miss, but on almost every occasion I find that they’re having a 40% off sale. I make sure to stock up on basics when they have these sales. My striped top is also from J. Crew and is a shirt I’ve probably worn hundreds of times. It’s finally starting to get a little worn, so I’m on the look for a new one! White pants are another basic that are worth spending a little bit more on to get the perfect fit. I mean, I don’t know about you, but I’m willing to spend extra if it means the bum will look perfect. I like purchasing jeans at Nordstrom Rack because you can find designer pairs at a discount! Also, don’t be afraid to rock white before Memorial Day! “Fashion rules” are simply guidelines and shouldn’t be taken so literally. I saw so many all white looks for winter that I adored! It just goes to show you that everyone is wearing white year round. Funny story- last Spring I was walking to brunch at Barcelona (one of my absolute favorite spots), and some guy yells out his car window, “It’s before Memorial Day!!!” I thought to myself, “touche…” I mean, how do you not laugh at that? So moral of the story, the worst thing that could happen to you is a random guy yelling out their window at you that you’re breaking fashion rules LOL.
