As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that getting outside during winter and embracing winter through unique experiences is how you can best get through it. Things like skiing, tubing, cuddling up with a good book, and even a glass of red wine make me happy during the winter months. 🙌🏻 And now I’m adding dine in a ski gondola at The Boathouse to my list!
A few weeks ago, my in laws came to visit for a belated Christmas celebration and Geoff and I researched fun and unique things to do with them. Since COVID was surging again, we didn’t love the idea of dining inside at a restaurant (they’re in their 70s).
I ended up coming across where you can dine in a ski gondola at The Boathouse restaurant in Kennebunkport, Maine and let me tell you, we had such a fun time! If you’re located in New England, I highly recommend it. It’s fun to do something different this time of year and this would be fun with kids, adults; really anyone! I also posted a Tiktok about it here and an Instagram Reel here.
Dine in a Ski Gondola at The Boathouse in Kennebunkport, Maine
You can reserve a private dining experience in a ski gondola at The Boathouse on OpenTable. The ski gondolas can comfortably seat 2-6 people. Just a heads up that they do require a credit card. There’s also a $150 food and beverage minimum ($250 for Valentine’s Day) when you’re dining and there’s a maximum dining time of an hour and a half. When we were dining on a Sunday night, it was essentially empty, so I’m not sure if they really enforce the dining time unless someone’s coming in after you!
The full dining menu was available and each ski gondola has doors that slide shut, as well as a space heater inside. I know you’re probably wondering, “Were you cold?!” With a combination of wearing my coat and the space heater, I wasn’t cold! It was very comfortable dining. I probably would have been fine without my coat, but I loved the cozy feeling. ☺️
Geoff and I both got lobster rolls, and he got oysters as well. His dad got the clam chowder which he said was delish! Also, if you like fruity cocktails, I highly recommend the “Take it to the Limit” cocktail which I got. It had vodka, pear puree, triple sec, canton, lime juice, and simple syrup. So tasty – I really want to try to recreate it at home… just have to get my hands on some pear puree! 😋
Verdict? Definitely worth it! I find it so much fun to do something unique during the winter months and have my eyes on other experiences throughout the state to get me through the winter months. If you guys like these kinds of posts, be sure to let me know and I’ll keep getting out there to document the winter fun! ❤️
AND – I hope you’re getting out there and having some fun this winter! You can book a reservation for the ski gondolas at The Boathouse here. I’ve also been eyeing their Ice Bar celebration that they’re having in February – you can buy tickets here. Maybe I’ll see you there! Hello,
Do you still offer the Gondola dining? If so, what are the dates and times available for this dining option.
Thank you
