My Pre-Wedding Self-Care Routine

Like most of us, I am no stranger to stress. In fact, I consider myself someone who gets stressed fairly easily. Hey, I’m working on it! 🙏🏻 Typically it’s over things completely out of my control; other times, it may be a consequence of my actions – such as going to bed too late or procrastinating a task. Over the years, I’ve learned ways to deal with stress so that I can live my best life and show up for those in my life who are important to me. Because of my tendency to get stressed, I knew a pre-wedding self-care routine was an absolute must.

No one prepares you for the stress of wedding planning! 😳  Why exactly is that?! When it came to preparing for the wedding, being as calm and as stress-free as humanly possible were of the utmost importance to me. Anyone who has planned a wedding knows, the planning is no joke. If you’re an outsider looking in who has never planned a wedding, it seems ridiculously easy. Trust me, I thought so too! I promise you it’s not. When you add COVID-19 on top it’s almost a nightmare. 😂 😱

The stress didn’t get to a high level until I was a month out from my wedding and it felt like all of the tasks were piling up. At around two weeks out from the wedding, it piled up even more since we were moving two states away the week of our wedding. I implemented a pre-wedding self-care routine two weeks out from my wedding. It includes diet, physical activity, and positive mindset.

It’s also worth noting that a lot of this revolves around preventing stress and inflammation in the body. This is purely what works for me – it might not be what works for you. When I have a diet that’s high in vegetables (particularly leafy greens), I’m consuming a lot of water, and I’m working out, I truly feel my best. This list of items is what I was aiming for in an absolutely perfect world. However, I definitely wasn’t perfect and didn’t follow everything 100%. I gave myself grace since I knew I was in a challenging and hectic time of my life.
