THE BEST WAYS TO STYLE A FAUX SUEDE SKIRT FOR FALL

I hope you guys had a great week. Friday at last! I’ve been busting my butt lately to get tons of content out for you guys since I’m currently unemployed (other than the blog). It’s been a fun challenge, and I honestly love doing this everyday, and having a flexible schedule. That being said, it’s not super glamorous like you might think. Most of my days involve me sitting at my computer by myself all day long and planning content, responding to emails, editing photos, and writing posts. Even though I do have the flexibility to go out and do what I want, when I want to, there’s a voice in my head that makes me feel guilty. I think I have been feeling super guilty for being “unemployed.” Anyone have tips for battling this? I’m definitely a person who likes to stay super busy, so when I’m not as busy, it makes me feel guilty. I may try working in a coffee shop and see if that makes me feel better and more productive. Anyways, let’s get to the good stuff – this outfit!

I don’t think I’ve worn a mini skirt (other than a cheerleading skirt) in seriously years, but it’s a trend that I’m absolutely loving. It really is one of those items that’s perfect for transitioning from fall to summer. You can pair it with a faux leather jacket for when it’s cooler, or just wear a t-shirt or tank when it’s a bit warmer. Those of you who aren’t located in New England may think by scrolling Instagram that it’s been a chilly 50-60 degrees here in Boston, but that’s so false! We’ve had the warmest fall on record and it’s still been in the 70’s and 80’s most days. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the warmth, but I’m so ready to stop sweating on public transportation and ready to wrap up in a cozy sweatshirt and blanket.

This skirt is advertised as being faux suede, but in my opinion, it’s more of a corduroy material. The color is perfect for fall, and is definitely more red in person than on the website. On the website they make the skirt look more of a pink shade. The color it looks in these photos is how it looks in person. A perfect burgundy/maroon shade for fall. Obviously a mini skirt isn’t the most versatile item in the world, and isn’t something that can be worn to work. Since this one’s only $15, you can justify the purchase a little bit more. if a mini-skirt isn’t for you anymore, I’m in love with this version from Loft that is longer and a bit more grown-up looking. I love how this mini skirt turned out with booties, but if this street-style look isn’t for you, I’ve also listed a few other ways to style it, below.

HOW TO STYLE A FAUX SUEDE SKIRT:

  • With a leather jacket + booties like I did for a street style inspired look
  • With over the knee boots for a sexier spin on the look (I love these that I own in the grey color + I’ve also been majorly eyeing these)
  • With sneakers for a sporty or laidback look (I have a pair of slip-on sneakers similar to these that I wear constantly)
  • With flats or mules for a comfortable, yet still dressy option (these are my new favorite mules that I’ve worn constantly).
  • With a denim jacket for a 90’s inspired look.
  • Pair with a long duster if you’re feeling a bit self conscious or like you need to cover up more (I wore a sweater/duster identical to this one over this outfit to a blogging event recently to cover up a bit).
