Whether you love Valentine’s Day or it’s your least favorite day of the year, either way, it’s a pretty good excuse to wear your sexiest pink underwear and eat chocolate for breakfast. Extra points if you’re eating chocolate in bed in your pink underwear on Valentine’s Day morning. Totally my style, and you’re #goals status.
As a child/young adult, I always found myself looking forward to Valentine’s Day because my mom always made such delicious treats, and treated my brothers and I to cute little Valentine’s Day goody bags. However, throughout most of college, I spent my years being quite the hater. I mean, once you’ve seen the millionth picture in a row on Instagram of flowers with the hashtag #luckygirl, it’s plenty, am I right?!
Part of growing older, living on your own, and getting out of the bubble that is college life, is realizing how dramatic you were for so many years of your life. LOL. Anyone else? The days when everything feels like the end of the world… Not having a date on Valentine’s Day.. But let’s be real, I didn’t have that many dates the rest of the days of the year either hahaha. Anyway, something that goes along with this realization is “hey, guess what, if you’re not dating anyone on Valentine’s Day… it’s not the end of the world.” In fact, when you realize that being in a relationship is not synonymous with happiness, you really begin to start to kind of figure things out. More about this in another post, but the reason I share this is because something that many people don’t seem to realize about Valentine’s Day – it doesn’t have to be a day solely about a significant other, or a romantic type of love. No boyfriend or girlfriend? No problem. Go out with your girls (or guys) and have a few rounds of margaritas. Do a Yankee Swap style gift exchange with your girlfriends, or a Secret Santa Cupid.
Ladies, completely stumped on what to get your man? Men, completely stumped on what to get your lady? I got you. Want to get something for your BFF? It’s all here. Also, I’m totally a believer in getting yourself a present for Valentine’s Day, even if it’s just new underwear (this bra is to die for). This yoga mat would be sure to get a couple chuckles at your next yoga class, and these earrings would be perfect for a night out.
Do you dress festive for Valentine’s Day? Trying to decide if I want to wear classic black or wear red or pink!
