If you guys follow me on Instagram or Snapchat (mnmurphy1223) then you know I’ve had a tough few days battling this insane allergic reaction on my face. Like, call out of work, cry in a ball, call doctor after doctor until you find someone who can fit you in, bad. I have sensitive skin, but usually the only issues that come up are a couple rough spots, a little tightness, and the occasional pimple. This is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’ve always had to work really hard to have good skin which is why I think this is extra devastating to me. Recently, I’ve finally felt like I’ve cleared up most of my skin issues, have been happy in my own skin, and have had the guts to go out in public with no makeup on. So to have to deal with skin issues, especially in your 20’s, when you already fully dealt with it in middle school, high school, and college, starts to get embarrassing and annoying 🙁 ! I’m exploring a couple different ideas of what it could be (I think my Cetaphil cleanser I’ve been using since my #1 ran out is to blame), and meanwhile the doctors have no idea. So if you guys could send some good vibes my way I would be sooo appreciative. I will plan on doing a follow up post on skincare once I get this mess resolved!
I recently purchased a new pair of Chuck Taylors and I’m obsessed with the navy color. They are such a classic sneaker and are so versatile. I have SUCH a pet peeve of sneakers with jeans, but I make an exception with Converse because it always works. I also love the white, but unfortunately I need to take a toothbrush to mine, or just give up and buy a new pair! They are so dirty from wearing them to work pretty much every single day last summer. Converse are especially popular here in New England because the world headquarters is right in Boston!
This oversized vest (last seen here) is seriously my favorite item in my closet right now. I’ve worn it so many different ways, including layering turtlenecks under it, striped 3/4 sleeves underneath, have worn tank top dresses with it, t-shirts with it, and it all looks fabulous. I absolutely love it for work because it instantly pulls together an outfit in an effortless way, and the fact that it’s sleeveless makes it perfect for working in the summer. The blush color that I’m wearing is sold out, but I’m in love with the black, and am purchasing because it’s that amazing and versatile of a piece. Plus it’s under $20! It’s worth every penny for how many different ways I’ve styled it through multiple seasons.
Lastly, this ruffled tank is such a fun twist on the classic white tank top, and I love how unique it is. Plus, the best part is that it’s currently under $30!
You poor girl–hope you are doing better! Sending love your way! Loving this color of Chucks, too so unique! And your vest is adorable!!
xox,
Kristin
Thank you sooo much Kristin!! Things are finally looking better!! I appreciate your sweet message xoxo
Love this look and your fishtail braid!!
Thanks babe!! xoxo
I like the converse with jeans! I’m with you when it comes to sneakers and jeans! Not a big fan on that!
Thanks so much Laura!!! Yesss Converse or Vans are the only sneakers I’ll ever wear with jeans haha xoxo
I love the fishtail braid! Gives a chic touch to the classic casuals!
Aw thank you so much!! xoxo
I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this! Like you, I have extremely sensitive skin, and the smallest thing can have the biggest affect, uggh! Hope your doctors get to the root of it asap! On another note, I’ve been thinking about getting another pair of Chucks, and love these in navy! You might just have me sold!

Aw thank you so much Heather for such a sweet message!!! Isn’t it the worst?! I sample so many products and am always trying to find the next best thing, so it has kinda been a wake up call to keep it simple and just stick with what works. Things are finally looking better! xoxo
So sorry about your reaction! But you look fabulous here, love that fishtail braid and your color scheme!! And I agree-no tennis shoes with jeans except converse (or vans-don’t have any but they are acceptable).

Thanks so much Lauren!! I really appreciate your sweet message! Yessss I’m totally a sneaker snob when wearing jeans, haha I only do Vans or Converse too!! xoxo
Oh goodness, I can definitely relate. I turned 25 in April and I feel like my skin sensitivity issues are in overdrive. I already have a chronic pain illness, coupled with a few other things. So skin issues are not something I’m up for – but really, is anyone?! I’ve used various facial cleansers as suggested by my mom (a nurse), doctors and dermatologists. Switched from neutrogena, to clean and clear, to dove, to Cetaphil. They work for a time by then stop working. I’ve managed to find a good balance with philosophy which was unexpected. I use the daily wash – daily – and the mask at least once a week. It’s an odd regime for me, and unexpected but so far it’s worked for me for about a year. Let’s hope it lasts!
Oh, and I recently bought a pair of baby blue Converse and I’m obsessed. I’m the same way, I never cared for sneakers paired with jeans. It always looked odd to me but to each their own. I love the ensemble and the Converse! Oh and pps: I recently moved back to the New England area (north of Boston) so you chose a great time for the converse ensemble!
Aw thanks Janie, for such an incredibly sweet message!! I’m in the same boat as you. Things always work for a little while, and then stop working. So far I’ve been really, really happy with First Aid Beauty. The headquarters are actually located near Boston which is so awesome. It’s great for sensitive skin, so if you find yourself in a bad situation again (which I pray you aren’t!!!) try it. Yay for moving back to New England!!! I love it here, especially in the summer! xoxoxo
hey girl! you look gorgeous! so sorry to hear about your allergic reaction! NOT trying to sell you or pressure you into buying anything but my nephew has extremely sensitive skin and he uses the Rodan & Fields soothe and it works WONDERS. if you want to learn more about it let me know or go to rvaskincare.myrandf.com! again – no pressure but I had to tell you about it! 🙂 Also I love the navy converse, I don’t think i’ve ever seen anyone wear them but i really like the color! Have a great night! xoxo
Aw thanks babe, I will have to look into that!! I’ve heard great things about Rodan & Fields. Isn’t the navy great?! I’ve always had the white, but they show dirt so easily!! I’m super happy with how the navy look!! xoxo
Omg I’m so sorry you had to go through that! I have allergies and they are the freaking devil. I’m glad you are better though! I love this post! You look gorgeous! I love the braid and I love the chucks! Super cute xo
Thanks so much Nicole!! I’ve never had any allergic reaction quite like this before. I always thought it seemed silly when people would do patch testing of products, but I think this has turned me into a believer haha. Thanks so much for the sweet message!! xoxo
Oh no!!! That is awful. I’m so sorry you’re going through that. I hope things are improving now. I absolutely love Chucks!! I’m overdue for a new pair. I’ve had mine since HS and they’re on their last breath haha. Hope you have a lovely Friday!

Thanks so much Stephanie!!! <3 Thanks for stopping by! xoxo
Aww girly, I hope your skin clears up soon. I know how hard it can be to struggle with skin issues on your face, both my pregnancies gave me mild acne and it’s awful facing people with confidence when you feel so insecure!!!
I love this casual look, that vest is stunning!!!
Hope you’re having a great weekend
Love, Shan xxx
Aw thank you Shan!!! Things are finally looking better. The rash was soooo bad it looked just like acne which made me sooo self conscious. Thanks so much for writing such a sweet message! xoxo
