I know what you’re thinking – what the heck are culottes? It’s okay, I was confused at first, too! For those of you in the dark like I recently was, culottes are essentially a fancy name for a wide-leg, cropped pant. Mine are from TopShop, but are sold out (this option is almost identical). I prefer to wear culottes with a heel, rather than flats. Because of their length, combined with the fact they are a wide leg pant, a flat shoe can often “cut off the leg” and makes the legs look much shorter than they actually are. Wearing a dainty heeled sandal balances out the look and gives an illusion of elongated legs.
Since it still gets a little chilly at night in the summer in New England, these are the perfect pants for date night or a night out. If you’re someone who’s constantly freezing like I usually am, or just love a really good pant, these are also perfect for the office or for church. I recently wore them out to dinner with my family over the weekend. Even though it’s going to be a while from now, I also couldn’t help thinking that these are the absolute perfect solution for the holiday outfit/meal dilemma. Two words – elastic waistband. Something to be careful of with these pants is your underwear selection! These are not the pants to wear your printed, full coverage underwear. You definitely want something on the light colored size and small-ish! You definitely can’t see anything in the front, but I wore a full coverage, black bodysuit when first trying these pants on and it was very visible. So just keep that in mind!
I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend! The weather was absolutely picture perfect in Boston over the weekend. My parents and younger brother came to Boston for the weekend and we went to a Red Sox game and also had a wonderful dinner to celebrate Father’s Day. Today is the last day of school for students and after Tuesday, I will be officially on summer vacation! However, I will say that it’s a little bittersweet. A hard part of teaching for me has always been seeing students go. Also, I hate goodbyes and hate change! Can any of you relate?!!
