I hope you guys had a great weekend! It seems like I haven’t done an outfit post in forever, so I wanted to show you guys what I wore recently! This is an outfit that I wore last weekend to dinner to celebrate mine and Geoff’s two year anniversary (for you Boston foodies, we went to Puritan & Company and it was delish). Honestly, sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday that we met and how could it have possibly been 2 years (time flies when you’re having fun lol), and other times it feels like we’ve known each other forever! It’s crazy how the time passes when you’re with the one that you know in your heart you’re supposed to be with. Anyways, it was one of those nights where I was having the hardest time picking out something to wear and was hating everything in my closet. Not kidding, I probably changed at least six times. I have such a hard time being decisive with my outfits now that we’re in this really uncomfortable in-between seasons thing. It was SO cold this day, but I knew I still wanted to look cute. I swear some days when it’s 30 degrees (IN APRIL!!!!) you just want to give up and wear leggings. Sometimes I do, but this was a special occasion, so I wanted to look the part!
I picked up this dress not too long ago from Zara, and at first I wasn’t so sure about it. I swear things look soooo differently in fitting rooms sometimes. Once I got it home I decided it was a great addition to my closet for transitioning to this Spring-ish weather. I love the bell sleeves of this dress which are on trend right now. I paired it with a blush, long cardigan that I found at TJ Maxx a while ago and has been my obsession for the past year. If you guys don’t yet have a long or maxi cardigan, invest in one now! I typically don’t like how short, waist-length cardigans and sweaters look with dresses, so to me, something like this with some length looks so much better; One of my favorite ways to pull together an outfit is by wearing a trench coat or a statement coat in the colder months; but once the weather starts getting warmer you can do this with a long cardigan. A longer length cardigan (sometimes known as a duster, but I can’t stand that word for some reason haha) is a great way to pull an outfit together effortlessly for spring weather when it’s too warm to wear a coat, or for when you’re inside and wearing a coat wouldn’t be appropriate. I live in these for work because they are so cozy and also cover the bum (I work in a middle school so I try to keep all the goods covered at all times haha). I knew the color of this cardigan would be perfect for bringing out the accents in the flowers of the dress. If you want to dress this outfit up a bit, it would also look amazing with lace up flats or lace up pumps (also obsessing over these). Since it was freezing, I stuck to my Catherine Malandrino grey, over-the-knee boots (last styled here). If you guys read an older outfit post I did that included these boots, then you know that I am obsessed with the over-the-knee boot trend, but spending $800 on Stuart Weitzman boots just isn’t in the cards right now. These boots are surprisingly great quality and are less than $80 from Nordstrom Rack. They were previously almost sold out in every size, but have been restocked (stock up for spring if you live in a cold area, or for fall and winter next year)! This outfit has a bit of a 70’s vibe to it which is a trend I have fallen in love with this year. Still trying to get used to flare jeans coming back… Not so sure how I feel about it! I hope you guys have a wonderful week. I’m going to be up at 4 AM tomorrow morning to go on a field trip to Washington, D.C. with the 8th graders from the school I work at for the week…(just a casual 8 hour train ride to get there lol) eeeeeeeek Wish me luck haha!! Joking aside, I’m super excited to see all of the historical attractions and memorials for the first time. Praying all the flowers are still in bloom and that they aren’t completely past their prime yet. I’ve also linked some more of my favorite longer cardigans for you to shop below!
